Should you drink electrolytes on long flights?

Body weights were recorded before boarding and again after landing. The findings indicate that those who drank the electrolyte drink had a higher net fluid balance at the end of the flight. They were also less likely to have increased blood thickness in their legs. Before you leave home, drink beverages that are high in electrolytes, usually those used by athletes.

These include Gatorade, Powerade, and Lucozade. Resource Water is another good example, since it has water and electrolytes. You can also drink them once you land to rehydrate. Just follow the “anything else” rule: every other drink should be a nice big glass of water when you drink alcohol or caffeine.
